The accommodation:

This studio apartment has been skilfully converted from the original grenier or loft of this Vigneron's house. Original beams have been revealed and restored and 2 velux windows allow the clear blue sky of the Herault to flood in. It has a well equipped kitchenette and a luxury en-suite shower room. Extra facilities include tv(french), cd/radio,hair-dryer and complimentary beach towels are available.

Whilst a lot of time has been spent on upgrading facilities, the house retains all of its character and many of its original features. A traditional Languedocian staircase climbs from the hallway through the first floor and up to the studio apartment. All the oak beams used in the roof structure have been treated and left revealed. Original terracotta tiles have been uncovered and are slowly being cleaned, restored and sealed.

The area:

Saint Genies de Fontedit is a small wine-growing village, just 15km north of Beziers. The village has a café bar, newsagent, grocery store, post office and several wine producers and outlets. Less than 5 minutes away is the perched village of Magalas with supermarket, two lively café bars, two superb restaurants, bakeries, chemist and bank with UK cash machine facility.

Only 20 minutes away is a 15 mile stretch of wonderful sandy beaches. Half an hour to the north is the staggeringly beautiful Languedoc Nature Park, where activities include lake and river swimming, canoeing, horse riding, cycling, rambling and bird watching, all in spectacular surroundings

Like many homes in the centre of centuries-old French villages, the garden is separate from the house. It, is in fact, a cherry orchard and just 400mtrs down the road from the house.

Almost invisible from the lane, nestling among the vineyards, this haven is for guests to relax in either sun or shade and enjoy the tranquility of the surrounding countryside.

There is a barbecue for the use of guests and areas of sun and shade have been created to offer you the perfect place to devour your paperbacks or just top up your tan.
